That Monday feeling

So today was the day..the day I got to take out the Brompton for it's intended purpose.
To ride hard and fast to work.

Admittedly, I should have only started riding it from tomorrow onwards, but since it's the last day of my 20s I felt rebellious.

The ride was good, quite different, had a few more miles to notch up, rather then walking to the nearest Boris bike docking station.

The door to door feeling was awesome, and my only concern was the fold once I got to work. I still haven't quite mastered the fold to be quick enough - especially with the lights, iphone mount all hooked up.

So today...20/02/2012.... Brompton day was born.

HA!

Not such a Monday Blues feeling afterall!

Tidying up

So, having inspected the bike, it looks like the paint on the Brompton bike is prone to scratching off easily so I went around and found some new paint which is actually made by Brompton.
Another thing is the cables and bike latches can scratch the paint off real easy too. So I've gone ahead and bought some Carbon fibre decals which sticks on to the frame - I'll add these to where the cables rub against the frame.
And some pictures.....

Bromptiboo

Makes an appearance!

Check out my first unboxing review Biologic iPhone mount

So, after collecting the Brompton I had noticed that Evans now sell Biologic accessories. I had bought a pair of the iPhone gloves from the site, which ended up costing me £45 which wasn't ideal.
I had been looking to purchase an iPhone mount and the reviews seem to favour the Biologic mount, but with the hidden sting of import tax I was reluctant to buy from the site ever again.
Awesome to see that the iPhone mount was being sold at the same price as of the site £44.99 - yes pretty expensive.
So, I decided once I got home I do an unboxing video. Please check it out....
A few pictures of Bromptiboo will be up soon!

Bromptiboo's accessories

So, in anticipation of Bromptiboo, I've decided to "pimp" it up with some much needed accessories. Using a combination of Youtube, blogging sites, and Amazon I've stumbled across the following:

Lights:
Cateye are known for their quality lights and as the model down was the same price as the next model up, I decided to go with this:

Lock:
You'd think "why do I need a lock for a fold up bike?" Well, I had asked myself the same question, and after investing nearly £800 and for the sake of peace of mind I bought a Kryptonite Evolution mini lock. I was hesitant at first buying any lock, since any lock can be broken.
Taking a look at a few youtube videos, it looked like the Kryptonite locks could be easily broken - and not the usual bolt cutter way.

This was just one of the loads of videos that are floating around but most where in fact over a few years old. I've taken a gamble and hope that the lock isn't much use since I'll be taking the bike in to whatever establishment I head in to.

There was one video however that showed the strength of the lock - you'll need to turn down the music because it's dreadful.

My last concern would be if I've bought a lock big enough to lock around the frame when it's compact. Since it's the "mini" version it could become a problem when folded.
I'm also looking into getting a cable to hook into the D-lock for the front wheels.

Bits and bobs:
In addition to the above I just bought a simple tire puncture repair kit, along with 10/15mm Spanners so that I can take off the wheels when in need of repair.

Just ordered......

Well, after viewing - in my eyes every youtube video - I've gone ahead and ordered the stock M3L Brompton bike in black. I've already started looking at upgrading a few bits and bobs - especially those grips.

Looking around, looks like I'll be using the Ergon GC2.

Ergon GC2 grips.

Don't think I'll be able to cut the grips as well as in the picture - but it'll be worth it!
